Byte by Byte
Geometry
tends to be a problem for students in math. The fact that geometry involves
theorem and postulates that are in technical mathematical terms makes it
difficult for anyone to understand. Peer teaching would be a great way to
translate this language from technical to conversational language. My byte to
byte project would be a research and presentation using video.
Lesson Plan
1. Lesson needs to use a tablet or smart phone to record video.
2. 5 minute time limit
3. Address theorem and misconceptions associated with it.
4. Must turn in 1 draft videos.
5. Must engage viewers. Get rid of talking heads (sage on the stage).
6. Can use YouTube to publish.
• Monday - chose a partner or small group to work with and begin researching your topic online.
• Tuesday - Groups should discuss “how” they will present the topic and determine if they need props, charts, posters, etc.
• Wednesday - This is script writing day. Groups should finish their ideas of exactly how the video will go.
• Thursday - Students will do a practice run of their video.
• Friday - Taping day, students should be completely ready to make their video. (Draft turned in)
• Weekend - Edit and re-tape
